San Rafael theft suspect accused of attacking workers

San Rafael police arrested a theft suspect who allegedly assaulted security officers during a convenience store robbery in Terra Linda.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at Macy’s in the Northgate mall, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. He said the suspect kicked, bit and scratched security personnel after they intercepted him with stolen goods.

Edwin Barahona Hernandez, 37, of San Mateo was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of robbery, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $75,000 bail.
