TOWN OF ULSTER, NY — State police underwater and aerial teams are searching for the body of a man they believe jumped from the middle of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge on Wednesday, July 10, state police said.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, the victim jumped from the bridge’s “center span” “and we’re looking to recover a body now,” Trooper Steven Nevel said Thursday.

Nevel said search teams stopped looking for the victim late Wednesday night and resumed their search early Thursday morning.

The victim drove to the bridge from the Ulster County side on a bicycle, Nevel said. He said police believe they know the identity of the jumper but have yet to confirm his name and age.
