Softball signs Hailey Mulligan as a transfer

SAN DIEGO – Head coach MJ Knighten and the San Diego softball program has made a splash in the transfer portal, adding infielders Hailey Mulligan to the roster for the 2025 season.

Mulligan joins the Toreros after spending two seasons at nearby UC San Diego. The San Diego, Calif., native will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Mulligan recorded a breakout campaign in 2024, serving as the Tritons’ primary shortstop, hitting .304 over 49 games and starts, while recording 22 RBI and recording a team-high eight doubles. Her sophomore season culminated in All-Big West honorable mention honors for the first time in her career.

The league honor added to Mulligan’s growing list of accomplishments, as she was named the Big West Field Player of the Week on March 4, 2024 and the Big West Freshman of the Week on April 24, 2023. Over two seasons at UC San Diego, Mulligan hit .261 with two home runs , 25 RBI and 13 extra-base hits, while playing in nearly 100 games.

In addition to his success on the field, Mulligan was recently named to the Big West’s 2024 All-Academic team.

Mulligan will join the rookie addition of Mallory Axline (San Diego, California), Sophia Pinedo (Montclair, California), Alex Riggs (San Diego, California) and Emily Taylor (Sacramento, California) as newcomers in 2025.
