Ohio University Chillicothe invests in Shoemaker Center

CHILLICOTHE— Ohio University Chillicothe announced the installation of a new Nevco scoreboard at the Shoemaker Center. Funded by Ohio University Vice President for Regional Campuses and Partnerships Lewatis McNeal, this upgrade will ensure the Shoemaker Center is well-equipped to host tournaments and various other athletic events.

The new scoreboard will support basketball, volleyball, futsal and wrestling matches, ensuring OHIO Chillicothe and the Shoemaker Center can meet the diverse needs of the community.

Additionally, Ohio University Chillicothe is hiring a part-time Shoemaker Center Coordinator to increase facility utilization, expand community partnerships, and conduct health and wellness activities for faculty, staff, and students. Applicants must have an associate’s degree or equivalent in athletics, fitness, business, communications or a related field, along with at least two years of relevant experience. Interested candidates can learn more and apply online no later than July 21.

The Shoemaker Center was dedicated in 1979 to honor the late Myrl Shoemaker, a distinguished member of the Ohio House of Representatives and lieutenant governor. The Shoemaker Center features a full-length basketball court, freestanding baskets and bleachers for approximately 2,400 spectators, making it one of Chillicothe’s largest and most versatile venues. Rental information for Skomakarcentret is available online.
