PSC Approves Rate Cut for Enbridge Gas Utah | News, sports, jobs

Enbridge Gas Utah cost of gas price reduction approved and effective July 1, 2024.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Public Service Commission of Utah has approved a significant rate cut for Enbridge Gas Utah, reducing natural gas rates by 29.53%. This reduction translates to a savings of $23.12 per month for the typical residential customer, which equates to an annual savings of $277.44.

The new prices came into effect on 1 July 2024 and most customers will see the reduction reflected in their bills in late July or early August, depending on their billing cycle.

“We are pleased to provide such a large reduction for customers and restore our rates to some of the lowest in the nation,” said Judd Cook, vice president and general manager of Enbridge Gas Utah. “In recent years, we have seen record high natural gas costs. We know this has impacted our customers. In addition to providing safe and reliable service, affordability is extremely important, and we are working hard to pass on the savings from reduced natural gas costs as soon as possible to those we serves.”

Enbridge Gas Utah and the PSC review third-party natural gas price forecasts at least twice a year to estimate how much the utility’s prices should be adjusted to cover the expected costs of purchasing natural gas for its customers. These costs are passed on to customers without a mark-up and have no impact on the company’s profit. The “pass-through” adjustments allow the utility to change prices to accurately reflect changes in gas supply and other costs.

Enbridge Gas Utah provides financial assistance and flexible payment plans to its customers to help them keep up with their monthly bills. Customers needing assistance should contact the company’s call center at 1-800-323-5517, visit call 211.
